Soon after opening, it quickly became apparent that visitor numbers were way in excess of even the most generous estimates during the design stage.
Getting several thousand visitors in and out of the buildiong through a single revolving door caused major headaches at busy times, and did nothing for the operation of the door.
Similarly, a revolving door to the terrace was also beset with operating problems from day one and a better solution was clearly needed.
Working closely with BCC and a number of our specialists, we have designed, installed and commissioned two new entrances to Birmingham Library, completing the enabling works, making alterations to the building façade, installing electrical supplies and the new doors and integrating them with the complex building systems, all completed on budget, defect free, with no disruption to building use and in less than 2 weeks.
